Creeping Vines

Hiking through an Amazon rain forest, I learned much about God observing nature.  The Brazil nut tree is a thing of great beauty and height.  It produces a valuable and delicious nut.  Its enemy is the creeping vine.  I saw one giant tree that had crashed, its roots exposed and spreading in a mangled mess.  What had brought it down?

The guides response, a creeping vine.  That vine  wound its way up and around sapping nutrients from the soil around the tree and adding weight.  Eventually the stately Brazil nut tree succumbed to the creeping vine.

How like our lives.  Creeping vines of discontent, worry, comparing, complaining, and greed are unneeded,  destructive weights.

Reflect.  With prayer God can remove each of those creeping vines.
