Contentment

In 1981 researchers found that Nigerians were as happy as West Germans despite being economically much poorer.  Today that has radically changed.  Today happiness is in direct proportion to per capita gross domestic product.  What changed?

The internet. Young Africans and others in developing worlds can see what others have, how they live.  The new comparison is not with their next door neighbor.  And many dream of living in that other place.  Many see migration as the only answer.  They do not believe their own leaders will move quickly for better living.

Christ followers have the unique opportunity to be content in any circumstance.  Its a gift, not a result of their circumstance.  After all the place we live now is temporary.  Heaven our permanent residence.
