Connecting with new people.

Life is richer with new, diverse people in our lives. Creating that reality is not so easy. How do we connect with acquaintances, even strangers. Jesus example of asking questions is a good beginning. Paul’s instructions in I Corinthians 9:22 is an excellent follow up, “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means, I might save some.”
An extreme example of this was on a missions visit in a remote area of Mexico. We shared a meal. They served a delicacy of fried grasshoppers. I graciously, on the outside, cringing on the inside, took one and crunched, swallowed, and smiled. They welcomed me warmly. Extraordinary!
Thankfully God asked us to follow Jesus example. Listening to others, participating in their meals helps us connect. A richer life indeed.
