Compromise

Capitol Hill is still buzzing about compromise.  Accusations are flying at those unwilling to abandon their position.  ‘We need to get this thing done.’  Action at all costs is the battle cry.

What’s missing in this conversation?   Two kinds of leaders are facing each other down: Those with personal conviction, and those riding on public consensus.

Before becoming too critical, let’s examine our own behavior.  I count myself a person of faith.  When choice and challenges come, do I act for the approval of my public audience, OR my personal conviction?

Capitol Hill is very important today.  But It’s a temporary place and It’s leaders are temporary.  We are eternal beings and our behavior matters.

So let’s weigh that decision, my friend.  Who am I trying to please today?
