Chaplain, Are You Praying?

A battalion was leaving Vietnam after eight months of fighting.  The plane was fully loaded, night came and rockets usually came into the airport when it got dark.  The plane seemed slow to pick up speed and eventually roared down the runway.  Everyone thought the plane might not lift off.  The anxious silence was finally broken.  A voice from the rear of the aircraft cried out.  “Chaplain, are you praying?”

“Yes,” came the answer.

The plane lifted.  They were off.  The plane erupted in cheers.

Would that we were all so dependent and confident in the prayers of people of faith.

These are certainly days to pray.  Groups can remove God from their plans, their plaques, schools, and courts.  But not from our hearts.  And He’s listening. Let’s answer “Christian, are you praying?  with a resounding “Yes!’
