Books: prophets, beginning

I’m reading through the prophetic books in the Old Testament. One common introduction struck me.  Many begin with a precise description of the time, the people, the setting, even other geographical events.  Read Amos 1.  That pattern is repeated in many prophetic books

Prophets did not just fling words out there.  Their words were precise, relevant for the moment.

My friend, today is no different. God knows where you are, what you are doing, who is around you.  He knows who is perceived to be the leader of any country.  God is, whether acknowledged or not.  The Bible is our Word, our absolutely relevant guideline and prophecy for the day.

As people in the Old Testament learned, ignoring God is never wise.  Embracing Him is wisdom and contentment.
