Apathy versus Empathy

Pondering the problems surrounding us, both personal, state, and nation, we can feel overwhelmed. Its tempting to let apathy numb us. What difference can I make? I have no control over this! Looking back on 2020, apathy feels desirable. The evil one loves human apathy. If we ignore it, he claims it as his territory.
Jesus demonstrated empathy. He felt with the broken hearted, hurt for the wounded. He comforted. He healed. Imitating Jesus, lets resist compassion fatigue and apathy.
Seek to understand the broken hearted, those suffering injustice. That means we get up close and personal with our neighbor. We listen in their time of trial. We identify, feel with them. Decide what we CAN do. Small action is better than no action. Apathy is no longer an option.
