‘And it came to pass‘

I remember hearing of an old gentleman being asked his favorite words in the Bible.  He answered, “And it came to pass.”  The phrase in some translations is one we skip over to read what’s important.  He saw it differently.

He said troubles ‘came to pass.’

The worries of today will fade in time.

Scars fade and even harsh words can dim and be forgotten.

Today’s catastrophe will be tomorrow’s trivia.

Do you need to remember today, my friend, that ‘it came to pass?’

There is no heartbreak that heaven cannot heal.

There is no trouble, but God’s grace is greater still.

No enemy that God can not conquer.

The old gentleman got it right. Everything in this world will pass. Heaven and God’s perspective are permanent.  May that change our perspective on today.
