M A popular television show was American Greed.  Watching it we saw the pull of desiring excess resulting in stealing, defrauding, even destroying the lives of friends, family, and any other victim. Greed leaves no room for compassion.

V  John the baptist in Luke 3 addressed the temptation of tax collectors to extract more money from those they could scam.  Soldiers were tempted to extort money.  Greed is never satisfied.

John’s words  “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely—be content with your pay.”

M There’s that word contentment again. Someone can always be found who has more.  More money won’t bring contentment.  Shaping our spending plans to match less than our income:  That’s contentment.
