Albanian hospitality

Albanian hospitality is extreme.  When Bob and I were invited into a refugee tent in Macedonia in 1999, a couple who had fled for their safety with only what they could carry treated us to coffee.   They had a restaurant in Kosovo and would have been killed had they stayed.

Out came a Bunsen burner like thing and coffee was made that was hotter and stronger than any I have experienced before or after.  103 degrees outside was hotter in the stifling tent.  But Bob and I drank this precious gift, because they were hospitable.

Almost 20 years later, I’m able to give back to generous Albanians.

By helping the widows of that war in Albania today, I respect their heart for generosity, no matter the conditions.
