Abundant Hatie

Grandmothers: lovable, frustrating, opinionated. All of these describe Grandma Hatie who lived with us most of her widowed life. Grandpa Leonard died in our home and ushered in a new era for Hatie. Her life was hard. I read her list of ‘things I have done or helped to do.” Blacksmithing and shoeing horses and mules, digging post holes, washing and dressing the dead. How would you title your life were you Hatie? Her list included splitting and hauling wood, breaking and training young horses and mules. I am more fatigued than after reading the Proverbs 31 ideal woman.
Yet Hatie titled her list, “The Abundant Life of Hatie McCoy. After reading her list, I ponder, “What do I count worthy of declaring ‘abundant’ in my life?
