What human does not ponder the ‘If onlies’ in his or her life. Parenting, moving, committing a crime, a relationship, marriage, investment.
Erwin Lutzer says draw a circle around your list and write over it. “The providence of God.” In His providence, provision and power to overcome, renew and remake, ‘if only’ becomes Only God sized opportunity. Yes, I find this hard to embrace. The felon who has served time, but cannot find work, vote, or travel. The wrong marriage choice that can never be erased.
Habakkuk faced all and decided even though all has failed, yet he would rejoice in the Lord, he would be joyful in God his Savior. He concluded that after examining exactly how big God really is. If only becomes Only God.
