A hard assignment for Christ followers in our culture is found in Hebrews 13: 5. “Be content with what you have.” Our culture screams, but you have less stuff, you don’t have the right look, your job is menial, and your children are ordinary. So we strive for better, for more, for what we do not have and may be impossible.
Let’s compare ourselves with what Jesus had while on earth. No home, not even a pillow. And He was Gods son and had a right to so much more. He lived with purpose and brought the possibility of spiritual wealth to all.
I think of what I deserve. The immense blessing of being born a woman in the United States was not my doing. I begin my gratitude list. Contentment over flows.
