Dust settling
August 2, 2021
As the dust settles in our nation after a bruising several months, let’s look back and see what we have learned. I read I Corinthians 13 with new eyes. This chapter is love described, highlighted, and packed with profound truth.
The chapter begins stating ‘If I speak in the tongues[a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.’
In my high school band, I played French Horn. My sisters were percussionists: kettle drums and bells. Solos of every instrument were popular, BUT cymbal solos. Cymbals alone are just loud clanging.
We have all heard many cymbals clanging. Solo loud voices declaring what they want, when, and from whom. Where’s the love here? Am I loving with I Corinthians 13 love? Lord help us all.
