Good read for leaders.

Leaders are in the limelight.  Willingly or not!  Many don’t desire it.  King Saul did not, given his humble beginnings.  He continued to work doing ordinary things.  I Samuel 11: 5 describes him coming from the field behind oxen.  Apparently, he desired an ordinary life.  But with military success and the praise of people, Saul changed.  He became jealous of other’s success.  All credit needed to come to him.  He became impatient deciding to take matters into his own hands rather than wait for God’s timing and be obedient.  He let greed possess him to collect goods and stuff to which God had said clearly, “NO.”

Little has changed.  Leaders can see their ascent crediting themselves rather than God. Leadership can breed narcissism, and often does apart from servant hearted dependence on God.
