Psalm 23: 1, 2

The twenty third Psalm is a timeless treasure of reassurance for today.  “I shall not want.”  God will provide in quiet peaceful times and hard times.  “He makes me lie down in green pastures.”  In Him alone can we lie down knowing He is our green pasture, our comfort in our human fatigue, and unknowns.

‘He leads me beside still waters.’  Still waters provide shade trees, fish for food, a place to splash and refresh.  Certainly we need all that He is offering us today.  Provision, peace, refreshment.

How do we claim those promises?  By accepting Him as our Shepherd.  Our trust is in Him alone, no other government, organization, portfolio, or human can offer what He can.  Our Shepherd might use them. But He is sufficient without them.
