Caring for an out of work friend.

I’m Miriam  Neff-with STARTING OVER FINANCIALLY, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, and we’re here to talk about money

M  Many of us have friends out of work.  How do we care for them? Karen Mulder  at Wisdom of the Wounded has great suggestions. Simply ask them how they are.  And then listen.  If they don’t want to talk about it, respect that.

V You could extend a dinner invite at your home, or doing something fun together.  Go for a walk, watch a movie at home.  Stay in touch;  texts, emails, or phone calls reminds them that you care.

M An anonymous grocery gift card, or bag of groceries on their doorstep sends a caring message as well.  Getting out of the house and taking their mind off their troubles is a boost.  A meeting or event might be just that.
