The Bible and the rule of law

We’ve have watched our countries leaders argue, make assumptions, and fan the fires of division in our country.  I’m challenged to dig into our countries history to see why our constitution and our laws matter.

The Bible has been recognized as the book from which the rule of law and democratic institutions in the Western world are based.  The influence of a ‘higher law’ is implied: equality of all persons, sanctity of life.

Embracing that each person is made in God’s image brings implied regard for each person.  Rule of law refers to God given liberties that are to be protected.

The Bible embraces that truth exists.  Recently as our Senate convened to determine contentious matters Senate Chaplain Black included in his prayer words from Scripture.  ‘The truth shall set you free.’
