I’m Miriam  Neff-with STARTING OVER FINANCIALLY, and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan, and we’re here to talk about money

 

M  Most Christ followers know that Scripture emphasizes generosity.  Giving to the body of believers, supporting evangelists and missionaries, coming along side those in need.  But how and how much?

 

V  Scripture is clear. Give willingly, cheerfully.  You do not have to.  God will not take it from you.  The giver opens her hand to God.

 

How much is less clear.  In Old Testament times, 10% was the benchmark.  Additional tithes were on holidays, produce from fields, and animals. The New Testament doesn’t give percentages.  In Acts  people sold real estate so the church as a community could care for each other.  Ask God what He would like you to do with His stuff.

 

M.  What we know for sure is giving is a heart decision, and accordingly as we have been blessed.
