M Financial ship wreck can happen simply by letting our emotions lead.  Impulse,  I owe it to myself—splurge.  I’m hurting—retail therapy to the rescue.  The Mall, shop online, drown that disappointment.  Impulse spending creates waste and debt.  Impulse investing denies us the wisdom of research.

  1. Pause, breathe. Note that item you think you must have.  Put it on the calendar to consider a month from now.  Is it still worth the cost?  One of the best protections from emotion ship wrecking your finances is that mundane budget.  Not flashy, not easy to create, but a guide through times your emotions are tempting you to spend foolishly.
