User friends

The word ‘friends’ in Scripture is actually 3 different words in the original languages.  Peitho means a ‘friend’ who uses you for their own gain.

Hetairos means a comrade with a common interest

Philos means one who loves, who has your back.

Hard times and straight talk help us see which friends use us, just share something in common, and who loves us no matter what.  Yes, there are some disappointments.  However, truth and being real is best in the long run.

In John 6 Jesus experienced all.  He feed 5000 men, maybe 20000 people a huge following.  Then He told them who he really was, not about free food.  Many disciples still followed him.  They liked his message, Hetairos.  By the end of the chapter, his own disciples were wondering so Jesus asked them.  Will you leave me too?

Priceless:  a few golden friends who have your back.
