Lincoln’s proclamation

Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving proclamation asked of God things for our country that we can ask for ourselves and our household.
Quote, ‘to afford to us reasonable hopes of an ultimate and happy deliverance from all our dangers and afflictions.’
The Civil War was on creating family disputes and danger. Relatives, even brothers fought on opposing sides. Illness and disease were common. Families are still divided, health and healing of body and soul still needed for all of us.
Note, Lincoln said ‘reasonable hopes.’ No expectations, at least low expectations will help.
Humans have not changed. Nor has God. He is still the giver of peace, unity, and is able to deliver us. Welcome Thanksgiving as a time to thank Him that He is able.
