God in our capital

We may not see evidence that God is in our capital.  But his hand and foot prints are everywhere.  One place, little known to the public is the top of the George Washington Monument: a 555 feet spire visited and climbed by many.

George Washington was a veteran, though we remember him for being the first president.  His monument in our capital is a landmark of our freedom.  Inscribed on the aluminum top are two words seen by few and unknown to most:  Laus Deo.  Those latin words mean simply, “Praise be to God.”

When you visit the capital, give thanks that the land mark still stands inscribed with “Praise be to God.”  Pray that it may ever stand and our country credits God with our existence.
