Fear of Irrelevance

One great human fear is the fear of irrelevance, that hollow, gnawing thought that our days and activities have little merit or meaning.  We sense that our hours and energy are invested in the mundane, the ‘won’t be remembered for that.’

As Christ followers, this fear is unnecessary.  We are assured in Philippians 1: 4 that we can be confident that Christ has begun a good work in us, and He will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Our process may be slower and more arduous than others experience. Our ‘good work’ may appear to be less applause worthy than sparkling spiritual stars around us. But wait!  Its not our call or our measure.  That belongs to Jesus and  His day when He determines our relevance and our impact.
