Griefs different faces
July 11, 2018
Tragedies happen. Grief follows. Its face is different on every person. Especially grief following death. Sadly some judge others and their care for that person by their grief. Life is real. Relationships are brief, long, dysfunctional, intense and remote. That widow who hid abuse is likely relieved. For some who are stoic, they care, but don’t show it.
As Christ followers, our task is simple. Accept that person, however they grieve. Don’t judge. Only God knows what was real. God has woven that person in their womb, their emotional makeup. And He alone knows what they have lost.
Consider Jesus. He sweat great drops of blood in the garden the night before his arrest. At Lazarus death, Scripture simply says, “He wept.”
