Summer temptations

M Summer season brings opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Advertisers say that we need elaborate outdoor BBQ areas, a pool, a retractable awning.
V I call these first world temptations. Traveling overseas we’ve eaten in places where there was no refrigeration. Fish was on the menu only if it had been caught that day. The public pool was a beach, not necessarily a clean one. Have a family discussion about what you can enjoy this summer that costs little or nothing. Throw a blanket on a patch of grass. Cut a watermelon and enjoy clouds or stars.
