4th of July

With the 4th of July approaching, I remember military widows I met with trying to understand their new life.  A Chaplains widow, young and parenting 5 children invited her widow friends to her home.  I just listened. Uniquely they lose much of their community without the military connection through their husbands.  They felt invisible even in their church.  Geographical moves were harsh heightening their isolation.

Do you know a military widow?  Reach out.  Send a card.  Thank her for her sacrifice.  Send a gift card to a local restaurant.  Say you are sorry for her loss.  And wish her God’s comfort.  If you know her more personally, offer to go on a walk together, or meet for coffee.  We all need connection.  So does she.
