Imitating leaders

It’s normal to look at our leaders and want to imitate them.  After all they’re out in front.  The Apostle Paul advised people to imitate him, AS HE DID CHRIST.  There’s the difference.  Imitate that leader only to the extent that they are living as Christ did.  Impossible for sure, which means they are on no pedestal and we continually look past them to Christ.

Its tempting to believe their leadership position is evidence of God’s blessing.  Possibly.  But they are still human and will sin. Number one criterion: how closely they are following Christ.  Are they servant hearted?  Are they taking credit for success or pointing to God’s blessing and their team.

Do they skew the perspective to polish their reputation?  Or are they quick to own their short comings and ask forgiveness?
