Smartphones and relationships
August 17, 2017
How are smartphones affecting our relationships? Families, Christ followers, churches, we’re all using them. For what benefit? Plusses: connecting when otherwise impossible. Military families united across miles, voices and faces. Knowing prayer needs, challenges and victories. Getting out information.
Negatives: being together but not, i.e. a family out to dinner each glued to their phone. The average user checks that phone 200 times a day. Is that time well spent? Looking at your smartphone while having a conversation. Oops, totally disses the other person.
What would Jesus do? He focused and faced individuals, listened long and empathized. And he used tools, like the parable, on occasion.
The smartphone is a tool. Use it wisely.
