Where do we find people who need Jesus? It has been said that the pulpit is where people are pulled from the pit. However, many in the church are Christ followers. The woman at the well, whose story is told in John 4 needed Jesus. She was living with her sixth man, going to get water from a well at noon. Women got water in the morning or evening.
She wanted to avoid other woman. She was a shunned Samaritan, shunned even by her village, which was shunned by the Jews. An outcast among outcasts. And Jesus came to her.
He addressed her practical need, having to go to the well every day for water. He saw her heart; she could tell he was a prophet. He addressed her greatest need. Our calling. Go to those who need Jesus.
