Why Give Thanks 1

Thanksgiving Day ahead is an opportunity to reaffirm that God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe.   Abraham Lincoln declared this in initiating this day of thanksgiving. Lincoln admonishes us, in light of that, to ‘reverently humble’ ourselves, and ‘offer up penitent and fervent prayers.’

Humility is not a revered characteristic in our culture, nor is asking forgiveness, admitting wrong.  Why should anyone who does not acknowledge God as the Creator and Ruler of the Universe?  Without God, each person is his own god with no right and wrong, good and evil.

On our day of Thanksgiving, lets humble ourselves, pray asking forgiveness for our wrongs.  Let’s thank God that He is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe.  Our nation, our freedoms are built on that. He is our reason for Thanksgiving.
