What we wish for

What’s on your mind these days? What topics come up in conversations, whether with family, friends or coworkers? Many are about what will the coming months bring. Do we like what we are experiencing now? What do we want back from the past? What do we want in our new and changed future?
Scripture sheds light on every reality of today. One danger is to idolize the past seeing it as better than it really was. The children of Israel were freed from slavery and on the move to a better place. They complained about what they did not have on the journey. They even asked Moses, ‘why not go back to where we were!’
Before this disruptive time, all was not great, but it was what we knew. We settled for familiar comforts.
It’s time to make better choices.
