Train up a child

I’m Miriam  Neff and I’m Valerie Neff Hogan with Wise Women Managing Money

M We parents cling to Proverbs 22:6 ‘Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.’  Some versions say ‘train.’  We usually think faith in Jesus as the most important.  True.  However, there’s more.

V Consider training children regarding earning money and spending.  Training is more than talk.  What do they see?  Do they see parents stressing over debt.  Impulse spending?  Small allowances are a start with tasks for a bit of pay in addition.  They learn the earn and then spend principle.  Before they reach age 20 they will receive a pile of credit card offerings.  No charge for starters.

M.  Proverbs are principles, not promises.  They will make their own decisions.  At least we can start them on wise financial paths.
