Thanks For Trials

Families are planning their Thanksgiving feasts.  Prayers will be said over tables laden with aromatic turkey platters, pumpkin pies.  Most prayers of thanksgiving will be about what went right this year.

But I can still remember my husband’s rich baritone voice singing these words.  “Thank you, Lord, for trials that come my way.”  And he sang with his body ravaged by ALS.  “It’s there that I learn to pray.”  “When everything’s put in place, out in front I can see your face.  And it’s there you belong.” He sang with conviction.

My thanksgiving prayer for you, my friend, is that you can whisper a ‘Thank You’ for your trials this year.  In faith. Through them you’ll become persistent, mature, and wise.  James 1 says so.  And eventually you’ll see His face in it all.
