Testing In The Body Of Believers

Our tests this year will be more than personal and individual. We will be tested in the body of Christ, the church. Sometimes our greatest disappointments are there. Christ’s bride, the church is tarnished. That place where we wish to learn and worship is broken with pride, greed, debt, selfishness and every other sin. This is not new. Paul’s letters reveal that the church in Corinth had adultery, Ephesus, temptation to follow a human leader, not the Lord only, Colosae, follow human ways of thinking, not God’s.
How do we respond? Meet with those who focus on God, the gospel, God’s agenda, not the church or it’s leader. Read the Word, all of it, together and privately daily. Hold leaders accountable. Transparency is not to be dreaded, rather welcomed. Meet with those who are humble and accountable. Look to God, not people, and go where He leads.
