Tears in a bottle

I continue to puzzle over why God would collect our tears in a bottle. Psalm 56:8. Yes, that demonstrates that he cares for us in our times of great sorrow. But reading the 35 verses in the Bible that mention tears, it’s apparent that He is quite interested in WHY we cry. God was not impressed by floods of tears from His people when they were whining because they did not get their way.
What’s in my bottle of tears? Bitter, selfish tears? Tears of remorse for all the things I’ve done wrong? Tears of sorrow for the good I could have done and didn’t–because I was distracted by lesser things.
I have a wish for future tears in my bottle. I want them to be tears of joy and thanksgiving.
