Tears

A friend and I recently sat in the memorial service of our friend.  We dabbed our faces as tears refused to stay hidden.  I remembered the days when my husband would hold me as I wept and wipe the tears from my cheeks with his tender touch.

Who wipes the tears from your eyes, my friend?  Some of us have siblings so close that we have shared tender moments of wiping each other’s tears.

Truth be told, most tears are wept in solitude.  Almost.  We sense the profound aloneness that no other human feels our pain or is willing to share it.

But God does.  He keeps them in a bottle and records them Psalm 56: 8.  He wipes them away Himself.  And we are promised in Isaiah 25: 8, there will be no tears in Heaven.
