Standing alone in secret
February 18, 2021
To stand for Jesus before religious leaders who do not follow his instructions or example takes courage. Nicodemus had a touch of courage. John chapters 3, 7, and 9. He met with Jesus at night to ask his questions. Jesus answers were a clear explanation of salvation.
Nicodemus became more bold in chapter 7 speaking to his peers, other leading Pharisees that Jesus should be granted what the law stated.
In chapter 9, he joined one of Jesus followers to ask for Jesus body, wrap it with his gifts of embalmment, and bury him.
We hear no more of Nicodemus. His example challenges us. He heard, did he place his faith in Jesus? When? After his death as did Jesus brothers?
Our challenge is to quickly embrace and stand with Jesus, regardless of the cost.
