Roaring lion

Lions are a unique beast. I’ve read with curiosity about their strength and boldness. Scripture in 1 Peter 5:8. compares our enemy, the evil one, to a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. I gained up close understanding in the Serengeti watching a lion holding a zebra in a death grip until the poor animal shuddered its last breath.
Why that zebra? It had wandered away from the herd. Distance made him vulnerable. Scripture came alive. When we distance ourselves from the protection of God’s direction in our lives, and from connecting with others of like faith, we’re vulnerable. We need others; we need accountability. That lion is hungry and ready to devour us.
God is our strength. Stay strong, stay connected, stay in the Word.
