Rights and entitlements

Our culture today seems focused on entitlements, and what we should be getting: our rights, positions, stuff and more. We look to our government to provide those.
Jewish leaders in Jesus’ day were no different. They believed they belonged in the best seats, were owed respect and deference, special treatment.
Sadly, leaders today can be just like they were. Leaders in our government, even churches can feel they are entitled. We are all vulnerable. It’s as though at birth, we have a sign on ourselves: ‘I’m the best, I deserve it. Me first’
Christ followers know we are servants, that all we have is God’s. We have open hands, humble hearts, and know we have something better than anything this world offers. God’s love, mercy, and grace and Heaven ahead. Perfect.
