Red-winged Black Bird

The red-winged black bird is an oxymoron–a bird of opposites.  It looks black sitting on a branch.  But flight reveals, brilliant reds and yellow under its wings.  Its one note warble becomes three-part harmony–all from one tiny throat.  This unique bird reminds me of us humans going through hard times.  We look bleak and sound monotonous.  And then we take flight.  We step out of our hard times in faith. We’re more than meets the eye.

The reason?  Romans 8:28 is real.  God is able to bring good things from hard times.  The future is different, but rich in new wisdom, new comfort, and stronger faith.  Next time you see a red-winged black bird, think Romans 8:28 For we know that in all things God works for the good.
