Recovering Volunteer 2

It’s been said that 80% of the volunteer work of the church is done by 20% of the members.  Why so little volunteerism?  The statistic answers the question.  Volunteers cannot sustain the load. Often, they are doing a little of what they are gifted to do, lots of what must be done, but does not match them.  Fatigue sets in, passion fades.

In our growing widows ministry, we have volunteers who say, “Yes, I’ll help organize.  Just never put me in front.”   Room reservations, invitations, keeping records, a leadership team has stepped up. I’m free to teach, an assignment I love.

If you’re a recovering volunteer, sidelined by fatigue and disappointment, inventory God’s gifts to you, rest awhile, and offer to do what you love.  That passion will return.
