Promises And Politics

There is, indeed, nothing new under the sun. Politicians promise, get elected, and then don’t deliver. What do they promise? Usually safety, prosperity, and opportunity. In reality, no matter how powerful politicians are, they can’t deliver on any of those. Safety is not just about armies; Prosperity is more than jobs and income. Opportunity? Fragile and fleeting.
As Christians we sometimes mistakenly believe God will give us those today. Psalm 73 and 75 are clear: this earth doesn’t get it right. His promise for each of us is only guaranteed in heaven, our real nation, not earth. Good news, my friend. Revelation 21 gives us a glimpse of what our real nation will be like: safe, prosperous, productive. Read it and rejoice.
