Past: Platform or Cage

Our past can be our platform to new opportunities. Standing on what we’ve learned, our experiences, even the tough ones, we can decide to use those to climb on, look ahead, and dream new dreams. OR our past can be a cage. A place where we’re stuck, can’t move forward, and can only partially see out, because of the lines, the bars of our past.
Peter had been a fisherman. And Jesus called him to be his disciple. Peter followed until Jesus died. Then he went back to fishing. Back to his past. But Jesus rose from the dead and pursued him. Peter’s past would not be a cage, but his platform. He would become a fisher of men.
Don’t discredit your past. Learn and adjust, your past does not dictate your future.
