Our Past: Honor Or Idolize?

For those of us who have lost someone. of great significance in our life, we have a choice. How do we remember those memories? that person? that season of life? We can idolize that person, remember only what we wish, maybe add some brush strokes, even whitewash. Placing anyone on a pedestal is dangerous. We focus backwards. Future facing, productive living is diminished.
Honor is much better. There is an appropriate place for them. Acknowledge what they contributed to our life, appreciate their qualities, blessings and bumps included. Today is real, life is ours to move forward as God directs, current tense, with Him first every day. Matthew 22: 37. Any honorable person in our past would wish that for us today.
