Listening to news today is neither uplifting nor inspiring. Avoiding it is unwise also. The Apostle Paul knew the news in each town he entered. He chose where to speak and what ‘hook’ to use in order to reach everyone with the gospel.
We need to know where people are hurting, where they are confused, what is impacting their lives.
We also need to know where we stand based on Scripture, not just the prevailing winds of the day. Reminder to self, spend more time in Scripture than keeping up on the news. Realities of the day connect me to people, our ‘hook’ to what is happening in their world. God’s gospel is our foundation for speaking and acting on truth, with grace and mercy.
