Why do people celebrate like crazy this day and night? All over the world! As 1999 changed to 2000, my husband and I watched the world news as country capital after capital, turned on lights, tolled the bells of Big Ben, showered fireworks in Buenos Aires. We had been in most of those capitals. Many were poor, floundering, corrupt, yet they celebrated today. Why? Somehow a new year signals that things might be different. A New Beginning with a new year.
We have a personal choice and can celebrate a new year. As Christ followers, He can sustain us to change bad habits, focus on hope to encourage those around us; to lift others up, not tear them down. Christ follower, celebrate mightily that our next year is the Lords.’
