Mother’s Day Alone

Did you know that Mother’s Day is a challenge for widows?  How many widows do you know?  My young friend, raising her five children alone dreads the day.  Yes, there are the crayon pictures, random menus (surely Mom’s must love hot dogs heavily decorated with mustard!) and attempts at good behavior.

But there’s a hole in her heart–a yearning for what her life might have been.  What can you do?  Send a card of real encouragement.  Include a gift card even for fast food.  Splurge on flowers.  Get to know her better so you know her real needs.  Accept this day as an opportunity to be God’s comfort THROUGH YOU to someone who’d love to celebrate today, and needs your help.  Whatever you do, her heart will be warmed that you remembered.
