Mind The Light

I’m inspired by the story of widow Katie Walker.  Her husband was a light housekeeper in Robbins Reef near New York City.  His final words to her as pneumonia claimed his life was ‘Mind the Light, Katie.’

At five feet tall, a lady, and less than 100 pounds, she did. Most thought it was a job for men only.  She saved 50 ships and scores of people.  A widow ‘Minding the Light.’

I’m called to point widows to our Lord in the darkness of their sorrow, the confusion of their loss.  If only one person clings more closely to Jesus, determines to bless others, fast, pray, give, serve, I’ll simply say, “Thank you Lord for giving me a task.  May I have minded your light well.
