Mary Mother Of Jesus 3
September 18, 2024
When we talk of courageous people in the Bible, seldom is Mary the mother of Jesus at the forefront. To me, she is. As I studied her life, I wrote of her in Not Alone. Consider her courage standing at the foot of the cross, seeing him die.
That day came. Though her mind knew it would come, she pushed it back. Yet prophecy was truth. The awful time of her son’s crucifixion was beyond belief. Being a human mother, having held him as he took his first breath, having stroked his soft cheek as he nursed, the pain in her body was beyond bearing. Seeing him, unrecognizable from torture, she ached to hold him, wipe the blood from his face, touch water on his lips, cradle his body, no matter how broken, next to her heart.
Surely the sword pierced her heart when the sword pierced him.
